House Plan Spotlight: Media Rooms Part II

As the mother of a teenager, I try my best to keep up with what is cool and hip in the world. I’m really good with music and tv, not so much with video games and fashion. (Why are skinny pants the rage? Don’t they cut off your circulation? You’ll have to pry my bootlegs off of me to get me to wear those.) One of the things that I have realized a little too late is that a game called Fortnite is really cool right now. Apparently, we are on Chapter 10 of this? My first introduction of this was my kiddo doing that blasted dance.

To play any good video game well, you need an awesome space to play it and a really good quality tv. So to help you with that, we have compiled 3 more of our amazing plans that have great Media and Game Rooms.

Sunset Ridge (NDG 1277)

I have to say, I think this is one of my favorite plans. I just love the way it looks as you come up to it. And our clients who provided us with some gorgeous photos (which you can see on the plan page) had excellent taste in choosing that blue with the white trim. I think it would also be pretty in a grey or a light green with that white trim, but that’s just me.

This Rustic mini mansion gives you 4,500 square feet of living space with 5 Bedrooms and 5.5 Baths. (Yes, that is a lot of bathrooms and clearly that is one of the ways into my poor mommy heart.) This home also features a 3-car garage.

The front of the home is faced with a Covered Porch with stonework columns and accents. It gives you great curb appeal. As you enter the home, you find yourself in the Foyer that features a large opening to the second story of the home as well as a staircase to the left. The Foyer also gives you a great place to store your coats and belongings with a coat closet and a bench with hanging storage.

Continuing into the home, you find yourself in a large Great Room with a stonework fireplace that adds to the Rustic appeal of this plan. The plan gives you the option to have built in shelving on either side of the large fireplace. The Great Room opens up to the Covered Grilling Porch with double doors and large windows.

The Kitchen gives you bar seating for 6 as well as tons of counterspace. The Kitchen also features a serving counter that gives you instant access to the Great Room. Perfect for snacks and Netflix binge sessions! Another important feature of the Kitchen is the large Pantry that gives you plenty of space for all of your canned and dry goods.

The Kitchen opens up to the Breakfast Nook that features large windows that look out on to the rear of the home. It also connects to the Hearth Room that features a large stonework fireplace. This is a perfect living area for you and your family to enjoy on those quiet nights in.

Don’t worry, though, there is also a formal Dining Room that is directly across the hall from the Kitchen. This large space gives you a great view of the front of the home and ample room for all of your formal entertaining needs. Directly across the hall from the Dining Room is the Guest Room with its own in-suite Bathroom and walk-in closet.

The first floor also features a large Laundry Room with an “L" shaped countertop and soaking sink for those super tough stains. On the other side of the home you will find Bedroom 2 that can also be used as an office space. This room features its own Bathroom and has large windows that face out on to the front of the home.

The Master Suite finishes up this floor of the home. It features a private exit to the Covered Grilling Porch and a picture window facing the rear of the home. The Master Bath features a corner glass shower and a whirlpool tub as well as two walk-in closets.

The second floor of the home is just as impressive as the first. Here you will find Bedroom 4 which features it own Bathroom and walk-in closet and has a lovely space for a reading nook. The second floor also has Bedroom 3 that has a large walk-in closet and a charming window area that is perfect for a desk or seat.

There is a second Bathroom on this floor as well as a Computer Room that can also be used for homeschooling or as an office. The best feature of the second floor is the Home Theater/Game Room. This massive space can be used in many different ways, but it would be perfect for the ultimate Media Room.

The Summit (NDG 1213)

This house plan gives you a Modern approach to the Rustic style. This picturesque plan has over 5,100 square feet of living space with 4 Bedrooms and 4.5 Bathrooms. This home also features a 3 bay Garage to keep your mechanical babies safe and sound.

The first thing that you notice about this home is the Covered Porch. This space gives the home that rustic flair with stonework columns and a vaulted ceiling. When you step into the home, the first thing you notice is that the vaulted ceiling continues throughout the open floor plan.

The Foyer features the large staircase to take you to the second floor and a half bath that is perfect for those moments when the toddler has held it in as long as they can. (We’ve all been there, haven’t we?) Moving further into the home, you find yourself in an open floor plan that contains the Great Room, Kitchen Area, and Hearth/Dining Area.

The Great Room features a large fireplace and rustic columns to break up the space. The entirety of the back wall of this area is windows and doors to the Porch that wraps around the rear of the home. The Kitchen gives you ample counterspace as well as a bar with seating for 4 and space for a refrigerator and freezer.

The Hearth/Dining Area gives you ample room for a table and also gives you space for a small refrigerator and has an area for a small sink to be installed. Wouldn’t this be perfect for kids? Having a small fridge and sink that you could fill up water balloons and distribute drinks from without having to worry about them getting stuff all over your kitchen?

Moving down the hall from the Kitchen, you find the enormous walk-in pantry. This is large enough to store food for a small army. Further down the hallway you will find the large Laundry Room that has lots of counterspace for storage and sorting.

This side of the home also features Bedroom 2 which is large for a secondary bedroom and has its own in-suite Bathroom and walk-in closet. The other side of the home is taken up by the Master Suite. The Master Bedroom features its own TV area which is perfect for those late-night binge-watching sessions.

The Master Bath is absolutely huge and features a walk-in shower with a seat, a whirlpool tub, and a space for a large built in with drawers. The Master Suite also features two large walk-in closets. This should give you plenty of space for even the most avid shopper.

The second-floor features Bedrooms 3 and 4 which each have their own in-suite Bathrooms and walk in closets. The second floor also has space for a large Media/Game Room with its own Kitchen! This little Kitchen features seating for 6 and has space for a range, sink and refrigerator. The Game/Media Room could give you plenty of space for any man cave.

Corbin Manor (MEN 5199)

As a little girl, I always dreamed of living in a castle with a turret or tower. I have to wonder how many other people dreamed that way as well. Well I think this is the house for you if you had that one, too. This house, wait for it, has a turret. Yes. I’m for real.

That’s the first thing you notice about this home and it gives it such a unique curb appeal. That may be the focal point when you are driving up to the home, but there is more to this plan than meets the eye. This plan gives you 4,700 square feet of living space with 5 Bedrooms and 3.5 Bathrooms. It also features a 3 car Garage.

Entering the home, you ascend the stone steps and through the porch into the Foyer. To the left of the Foyer is the Dining Room featuring the edge of the spiral staircase to the second floor and a stone wrap on the wall.

Moving further into the home, you find yourself in a large open floor plan featuring the Great Room, Kitchen and Breakfast Area. The Great Room features a gas fireplace on one of the walks and 2 sets of French Doors that open up to the Grilling Porch/ Outdoor Living Area in the rear of the home.

The Kitchen features bar seating for 7 at the island and plenty of counterspace as well as an inset Pantry. The Breakfast Area features windows on two sides that overlook the rear of the home. Moving further into the home, you find the Coffee Bar and the ½ Bath.

This part of the home features Bedrooms 2 and 3 which share a jack and jill style Bathroom and each have their own large closet. On the other side of the wall from Bedroom 2 is the Laundry area that features a soaking sink and access to the laundry chute from the second floor.

On the other side of the plan you will find the Master Suite. The Master Bedroom is large and features a boxed ceiling and sliding doors to access the Grilling Porch and Outdoor Living Area. The Master Bath features an absolutely enormous walk-in shower with a rain showerhead and a large walk in closet with room for a Gun Case.

The best part of this plan is being able to walk up your own spiral staircase in your own medieval style tower to the second floor of the home. As soon as you step out of the staircase, you find yourself in a large Game Room/Media Room. This is perfect for people who enjoy television as much as our family do.

The second floor also features a large upper Living Room that has built in shelving for a media center as well as storage for all of those DVDs you pick up on Black Friday. (Or is that just me?) The second floor is finished up by Bedrooms 4 and 5 which share a hall Bathroom, and each have their walk-in closet. Check out the photos on our website of this plan after it was built.
