Cozy Comforts: Master Bedrooms with Fireplaces

So, the promised cold front came through this weekend. And, oh my goodness, it is nice! My kid is saying that she’s freezing, but I’m loving it! Now time to break out the hot chocolate mix, the scarves, gloves, and get all cozy and comfy. What? It’s going to get back up in the 80’s by the end of the week?! Crap!

Well I can at least pretend while its nice. So, let’s look at some comfy, cozy things for your dream home.

Cozy Additions to Great House Plans

So, one of the things that I love to do the most, especially on cold days is burrow under the covers with a good book. (Just because they are eBooks, doesn’t mean they don’t count!) So, what is more comforting on a cold day other than a good book? A nice fire in a fireplace to keep you warm. So why not make sure that your master bedroom has just that?

I’ve collected some of the best plans that have fireplaces in the master bedrooms all in one little post. So, you can look at these charming plans to your heart’s content. Or you can check them all out on our website.

Chateau Cove (NDG 1112)

The gorgeous European style house plan is perfect for any family. Whether you are just starting out or are looking for that perfect dream home, give this plan a looksie. At just over 4,000 square feet, this 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home gives you plenty of room for you and yours. Featuring a wrap around countertop in the kitchen and a corner fireplace in the master bedroom, this house plan keeps wowing from the moment you take a first glance at it. Don’t believe me? Take a look.

The first thing that you notice about this house plan is the roofline. The lovely European styling of this home set it apart from every other home in the neighborhood. Everyone wants to have something unique about their home, well this plan delivers from the get-go.

As you enter the home from the entry porch, you find yourself in the foyer with its barrel style vaulted ceiling. This gives the home a lovely Old World feel and makes your guests feel that they are entering a world of prestige.

To the right of the foyer is the dining room. This large formal dining area features exposed beam trusses with a vaulted ceiling. It also has a large picture window facing the front of the home. Moving out of the dining room, you find yourself in the large great room.

This room certainly lives up to its name and features large windows that open toward the rear of the home as well as an entrance the large grilling porch. The grilling porch features a large summer kitchen as well as roll up screens for those nights when you don’t want to tempt fate with the mosquitos.

To the right of the great room you will find the hearth room/den. This large space gives you an impressive view in the back of the home with four windows. It also has a lovely boxed ceiling that will give the space character. The hearth room also gives you a large brickwork fireplace nestled neatly in the corner.

From the hearth room, you can make your way into the kitchen that has a very large wraparound countertop. This kitchen also includes a large central island with bar seating. The kitchen also features bar seating at the countertop in between the hearth room and the kitchen.

Moving out of the kitchen towards the front of the home, you find the laundry room and pantry. This large space gives you plenty of room for organizing and cleaning. This side of the home also contains bedrooms 2 and 3 that share a hall bathroom. They each have their own walk-in closet.

The other side of the home is where you will find space for an office. This space features a boxed ceiling and large picture window. There is also a hall bathroom here on this side of the home before you reach the master suite.

The master suite is huge and gives you a wonderful corner fireplace to cozy up to on those cold winter nights. It also features entrances to both the grilling porch and to the rear of the home with a bay style opening with French doors.

Moving away from the master bedroom, you will find the walk- in closet that doubles as a storm shelter. The Master bath features a large glass shower with seating and a whirlpool tub as well as his and hers sinks. Glenale Avenue (NDG 544)

This traditional house plan has character to spare. Not only does it give you the cutest little covered porch on the front of the home, but it also has just under 2,000 square feet of living space with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Don’t discount it because it has a smaller footprint, this home gives you all of the space that you could ever need including a master bedroom with a fireplace and a breakfast room with a bay window! Don’t just take my word for it.

As you approach the home, the first thing that you notice is just how neat and tidy this plan looks. It has almost the perfect little gables peeking out of the roofline with that adorable little covered front porch. As you enter the home, you find yourself in the foyer with its impressive 10-foot ceiling.

Immediately to your left, you find the dining room that features the same tall ceiling and also has two lovely windows facing the front of the home with that cozy front porch. Decorative columns separate the foyer and dining room from the great room.

The great room features the high boxed ceiling as well as a large brickwork fireplace on the rear wall. Here is where you will also gain access to the grilling porch on the rear of the home. From the great room, you can make your way to the breakfast room.

The breakfast room features a large bay window overlooking the grilling porch. This gives you a wonderful view first thing in the morning. Stepping from the breakfast room, you find the kitchen.

This large space gives you loads of counterspace with bar seating for 4. Moving out from the kitchen, you will find the laundry room, which can double as a mudroom as it comes in from the garage.

On the east side of the home, you will find Bedrooms 2, 3 and 4. They each have their own large closet space and share the hall bathroom with its jack and jill sink. The other side of the home features the master suite.

The master suite features high boxed ceilings and large windows facing the rear of the home. The master bedroom also features a corner fireplace for the ultimate snuggles fest. The master bath gives you space for both a shower and a whirlpool tub as well as space for a vanity between the his and hers sinks. Through here, you will also find the walk-in closet.

Callista (NDG 1291)

This European style home is a jaw dropper. As soon as you look at this plan, you want to live in it. With just over 4,800 square feet of living space, this house plan gives you 4 bedrooms with 3.5 baths. It also gives you a bit of luxury with a dining room, guest room, and a sitting area with a fireplace in the master bedroom!

Entering the home from its circular drive, you step onto the covered Porch featuring stonework columns. You can step into the home into the Foyer that features a 12’ high ceiling. On the right side of the Foyer is the Dining Room which is perfect for entertaining. The right side of the Foyer gives you access to the Office space which has a large window overlooking the front of the home. The Office also has its own storage area and gives you a perfect place to keep your sensitive files.

Continuing to the right you find yourself in the Safe Room. This is perfect for those areas that could be affected by severe weather because it gives you quick access to the Safe Room.

Moving back through the home, you find the Great Room that has the other half of the passthrough masonry fireplace and exposed timber beams. The Great Room also features French Doors that lead out onto the Outdoor Grilling Porch at the rear of the home. The outdoor living area also features an outdoor kitchen and access to the covered living areas, one of which has its own stone fireplace so that you can enjoy the nights as they get cooler.

The Great Room connects with the large Kitchen Area which features loads of great counterspace and room for a refrigerator and a freezer. It also has bar seating for 4 that faces the Breakfast Room. The Breakfast Room has a large window that looks out on to the rear of the home. The Kitchen also gives you access to a large Pantry that is every cook’s dream.

The Master Suite features a masonry fireplace and its own sitting room. The Master Bath gives you both a linen closet and drawer storage as well as a large glass shower with a seat. The Master Suite is rounded out by two large walk-in closets.

The rest of the home features a large Laundry Area with its own sink for soaking those super tough stains, a Half Bath for the kids, a Kid’s Nook off of the garage. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are on this side of the home as well as the large laundry room. All of the bedrooms feature their own walk in closet and share a jack and jill style bathroom.

The second floor of the home gives you a Bonus Room and another Bathroom. This space would be perfect for a kid play area, an office or an exercise room. This plan gives you everything that a growing family would ever need.
