Traditional American House Plans: Part 1
Traditional American House Plans: Part 1
Veteran’s day is always a hard day for me to describe. I have family that have served in our military, but I never have. When I was in high school, I was required to take the ASVAB. We weren’t given any warning about it. Just one day during our junior year we were brought into the auditorium and there were several men in Air Force uniforms handing out test booklets. I scored remarkably well for a woman and was instantly on their radar.
They wanted me to become a linguistics expert. Even then I had a way with words and playing with languages had always been fun to me. I thought it might be a good idea. Then my great uncle who had served in the Korean Conflict sat me down and talked to me about what it was really going to be like. Far from home. Always afraid. Never really knowing what was going on. Always wondering if you were going to make it home. It scared me. I know now that it was meant to. I went to college instead. There are those who did decide to go that route. And I can’t imagine the strength and courage it takes to do that.
Traditional American House Plans
One of the things that our brave men and women who are overseas think of constantly is coming home. Home to things that are normal and usual to them. So, for their hopes and dreams, lets look at some great plans that give you the same feelings as baseball and warm apple pie.
Willow Lane (NDG 590)
This traditional house plan gives you 2,146 square feet of space with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 1 half bath. This plan has great curb appeal with a unique roofline and lovely covered front porch. This traditional home also gives you a great master suite with a large walk-in closet. This home also features a large pantry in the kitchen and a formal dining area for entertaining.
As you approach the home, the first thing that you notice is the beautiful covered porch. This covered porch gives you a perfect entryway to the home. Stepping inside the foyer you find yourself in a space that is bracketed on each side by the dining room and the great room.
On your left you will find the dining room. This space is perfect for entertaining and features a large double casement window that looks out over the front of the home. The great room is on the right side of the foyer and features a large brickwork fireplace along the right-hand wall directly across from the door.
This fireplace would make the perfect centerpiece for a family entertainment center and already has a built-in entertainment center along one side. The great room also features a large window that faces out onto the front of the home and an entrance to the grilling porch on the side of the home.
The kitchen gives you plenty of counterspace to prep meals and has a large pantry to help you keep up with large shopping trips. The kitchen also gives you bar seating for 3 and has a breakfast room with three large windows that look out over the grilling porch.
Moving further into the home you will find the laundry room and the kid’s nook. The laundry room gives you storage over the washer and dryer hookups and the kid’s nook, which comes off the garage, would be perfect to be used as a mudroom.
The master suite is also on this end of the home. The master bedroom features a 10-foot boxed ceiling and an entrance to the grilling porch. The master bath is accessed through French doors and gives you two sinks, a whirlpool tub and a shower with a seat. Don’t forget about the large walk in closet! This gives you plenty of room for all of your things.
The second floor gives you bedrooms 2 and 3. Bedroom 2 has smaller closets with a desk built in between them while bedroom 3 has a larger closet. Each bedroom has access to the second-floor bathroom with his and hers sinks.
