House Plan Spotlight: Media Rooms Part I

Published at August 06 2024 by JFord

All the talk here at the office this week is all about the NFL Preseason and the draft. I’m not a huge fan of pro football, I much prefer high school ball. *Dodging the fruit being thrown* But I realize that I’m in the minority. I do enjoy watching some of the games. My husband and I watched the past couple of Super Bowls and we even did the whole betting on the game thing. (I’ve won the last two years.) The funny thing is, neither one of us watch the entire season. So we pretty much go in blind and don’t know who we should be betting for.

If you are a fan of the NFL, right now you are probably getting that TV and Media room ready for the season. If you aren’t a fan of the NFL, you are still probably getting that room ready. So here are some great house plans with Media Rooms. All of these plans have been built by some of our previous clients so be sure to take a look at their photos on our website!

This modern farmhouse house plan is a beautiful blend of traditional urban homes and farmhouse features. You will notice that this home features a gorgeous covered porch that is perfect for lounging on hot summer days. Unlike the traditional farmhouse, this plan features a 2 car Garage.

This house plan gives you just over 2,400 square feet of living space with 4 Bedrooms and 3.5 Bathrooms. Entering the home through the covered porch you immediately find yourself in the Foyer. To the Left of the Foyer you will find the Dining Room that is bracketed by 8 foot columns at the entrances from both the Foyer and the Hallway.

Moving directly across the Hallway from the Dining Room and Foyer, you find yourself in an open floor concept that contains the Great Room, Kitchen and Breakfast Room. Open floor plans are not part of a traditional farmhouse style house plan, but this plan blends the traditional placement of the Kitchen and Great Room with the modern concept of it.

The Great Room features a large brickwork fireplace with built-ins and a media center flanking it. The Kitchen gives you room for a large range, lots of countertops, and a pantry and features an island with seating for 5. The Breakfast Room features a large window that looks out onto the Grilling Porch at the rear of the home which can be accessed from the double doors in the Great Room.

Moving further into the home, you will find the half bath and a Kids’ Nook off of the Garage entrance and right next to the Laundry Room. Let’s stop the smell of practice from coming any further in the house than we have to, right?

The remainder of this side of the home is made up of the Master Suite. The Master Suite features a large Master Bedroom with an enormous picture window. The Master Bath features a freestanding tub, a large glass shower, a his and hers sink and a large walk in closet.

The remainder of this floor is occupied by Bedrooms 2 and 3 which share a hall bathroom. Moving upstairs, we find Bedroom 4 with a built in computer area and a walk-in closet. Upstairs you will also find the last Bathroom that we promised you as well as a large storage closet. The top floor is finished up by a large TV Room that is a perfect place to watch sports or play the latest video games.

Be sure to check out photos of this house plan that have been uploaded by one of our happy clients! And remember farmhouses don’t have to be white! Grey or blue with white trim looks absolutely stunning.

This home has such an imposing curb appeal. It’s like one of those people that have such charisma that you can’t help but stare at them. This house plan has so many unique features including the impressive roofline and the pull through to the rear of the home.

This house plan gives you 4,300 square feet of living space with 3 Bedrooms and 4.5 Bathrooms. (I love a house plan with a lot of bathrooms. I’m a mom of 2 girls.) It also features a 3 car Garage for your motorized beauties.

You enter the home from the Porch and find yourself in the Foyer with a grand staircase to your right. This staircase doesn’t just look nice, it also features a large storage area under it. To your left, you will find the Dining Room/Office. This room features a coffered ceiling and a large picture window that faces the front of the home.

If you move further into the home, you find yourself in the Butler’s Pantry that gives you a perfect place to prep for your large events and formal gatherings. There is also a regular Pantry that is large enough to store groceries from the largest shopping trip.

Stepping from the Butler’s Pantry you find yourself in a large open floor plan featuring the Kitchen, Great Room and Breakfast Room. The Kitchen features plenty of counterspace with room for both a refrigerator and a freezer. It also has 2 islands, one that is simply there for prep space and one that features both a sink and seating for 4.

The Breakfast Room is directly adjacent to the Kitchen and features both an exit to the Covered Porch and Grilling Porch/Outdoor Living area as well as a large picture window facing the rear of the home. The Great Room features large windows facing the rear of the home, a double door access to the Covered Porch and a large stonework fireplace bracketed by built-ins on each side.

The Grilling Porch/Outdoor Living Area features a wood burning outdoor fireplace, an outdoor grilling kitchen and outdoor bar seating for 7. The fireplace is actually a passthrough that you can enjoy from either side and gives you some warmth so that you can lounge on the patio and enjoy it as well.

Moving further to the right side of this plan you will find a storage room with a space for a refrigerator that would be perfect for those hot days of playing outside in the sun. This room passes through to the Bathroom that features a large glass shower. Again, perfect for cleaning up after being outside for a long while. This leads to the Guest Room. The Guest Room opens up to the Mud Room/Crafting Room. This gives you plenty of space for all of your Pinterest inspired crafts!

From the Great Room you can move down the hallway to a large space that can be used for either a Media Room, an Exercise Room or a Study. It includes a closet to be used for Equipment Storage. This area of the home also features a half Bath.

The remainder of the first floor is taken up by the Master Suite. I love the Master Bedroom in this plan. It is octagonal! Yes, so it has views on 3 sides that look onto the rear of the home. The Master Bath features a large glass shower that connects to the whirlpool tub. Can anyone say “Spa Day"?

The Master Suite also features 2 large walk-in closets and the Laundry Room. The smaller walk-in closet is also a FEMA sized Safe Room. This gives you a place to be in case of a severe weather situation. The larger of the walk-in closets is larger than my entire bedroom. It’s huge! It features an area for a desk or a vanity and an island with drawers.

On the Second Floor of this house plan you will find Bedroom 3 and an Optional Media Room. Bedroom 3 doesn’t have an in-suite bathroom, but there is a large Bathroom and walk-in closet. The Bathroom features both a tiled shower and a large whirlpool tub. The closet also has a built in computer desk area that is perfect for homework or working from home.

The Optional Media Room features space for shelving and has room for theater style seating. This could be your own personal theater. This plan also gives you space for an optional Equipment Room. The second floor gives you a wonderful balcony that overlooks the Great Room below.

Be sure to check out the photos of this home! We are grateful to our clients for providing us with gorgeous pictures of this home after it was built.

This home is a perfect example of a modern mansion. This house plan gives you nearly 8,000 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 5 and half baths. This home also includes a 4-car garage and a loft area. The circle driveway in the front of the home leads you straight into the entry way of the home. The foyer opens into a 5’ wide Grand Hall.

Walking directly through the opening from the grand hall you find yourself in the massive Great Room. This room features a large fireplace central to the right-hand wall and exposed beams in the ceilings to give you that look of openness that we all love right now. From the Great Room you can walk onto the Covered Porch.

The Covered Porch wraps around the home and gives you space for a Covered Outdoor Living Area and an open Grilling Porch. From any of the porch entrances you can make your way back into the home through the Hearth Room. This massive room with vaulted ceilings is perfect for those cozy nights in. Just beyond the Hearth Room is the spacious Kitchen. The Kitchen features a large island that will seat 6 for entertaining as well as a walk-in pantry for all of those wonderful meals.

From the Kitchen, you can walk back out into the main hall. This floor also has a Study with an adjoining Library, Dining Room, an Office with adjacent Storage area for all your files, a massive Laundry area, a Hobby room, ad 3 bedrooms all with their own bathrooms and walk-in closets. The Master Suite with its built-in sitting room and one of the largest Master Baths that I have ever seen. The Master Bath includes a glass shower, a whirlpool tub and two walks in closets bigger than my first apartment.

The second floor features a Media Room where you could have your own personal Theater. It also includes an apartment area with its own Bedroom, large bathroom with large walk in closet, and fully functioning Living Area/Kitchen Combo and private entrance. Did I mention the personal theater?
