Spring is the time when you want to have your plan and everything ready to go to start your build. Many times, we hear from clients that they wanted to break ground on their home this month or next month, but there is some sort of delay. There are many things that you need to have in place in order to have your home built. While its not the first step, having a house plan already purchased is going to make the rest of the process move a lot smoother. So, take a look at some of our newest plans and see if one of them catches your eye.

The Crafton (MEN 5241)

This lovely craftsman house plan is perfect for the growing family. Evoking memories of the classic craftsman bungalows of the early 20th century, this showstopping home design from award winning designer Michael E. Nelson is sure to make you feel at home. This plan gives you just over 2,300 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 1 half bath. Blending the traditional with the modern, you will find an open floor plan combining a large kitchen with the great room and dining spaces as well as a lovely covered porch on the rear of the home.

As you approach the home, the first thing that you notice is that this home gives you all of the external elements of a traditional craftsman bungalow home design. With stocky columns supporting the roof of the covered porch and wide stone steps leading up to the front door, this home takes you right back to the turn of the last century.

Entering the home, you find yourself in the great room. This is part of a sprawling open floor plan that includes the great room, kitchen and dining areas. The great room gives you a welcoming feeling as soon as you enter the home. The great room features a large fireplace along the right wall that is flanked on either side by single windows and a double window that faces the front of the home.

To the left of the great room is a sunroom that can be used as a flex space. This would be perfect for an office or as part of a formal dining area. This room features a large opening into the great room and a long bank of windows looking out over the left side of the home as well as a double window that looks over the front of the home.

Just through the great room is the open area that includes the kitchen, breakfast nook and hearth room. The kitchen is set up in a very traditional design with a line of cabinets along the rear wall of the space and an island that faces the great room. This is perfect for a family because the kitchen island gives you a sink and counter space that make it perfect for cleaning up after a meal and letting you keep an eye on the comings and goings in the great room.

The hearth room is on the left side of the kitchen and gives you 3 windows that face the left side of the home and a fireplace along the forward-facing wall of the space. The breakfast room on the other side of the space mirrors the hearth room with the 3 windows facing the right side of the home and a single window on the forward-facing wall of the space. It also has an entry that leads out to the grilling porch on the side of the home. Don’t forget about the large pantry just behind the kitchen that gives you plenty of space for even the largest shopping trip!

This home doesn’t have an attached garage, but it does feature an attached car port or porte cochere. This car port enters the home through a breezeway and opens directly into the mud room. This space gives you plenty of storage with benches and hanging room on either side of the entry way and closets just inside the home. This mudroom lies between the open floor plan that makes up the front of the home, or public areas, and the master suite that makes up the rear of the home, or private areas.

Moving further into the home, you will find the half bath and laundry room directly across the hall from each other. The half bath gives you a single window that looks out over the left side of the home. The laundry room has plenty of hanging space and features a small soaking sink to help get rid of some of those tougher stains.

The master suite lies on the rear of the home and gives you plenty of room for you and your significant other to cuddle. The master suite features two windows that face the left side of the home and 1 that faces the rear of the home. The master bedroom also gives you a private entry to the covered porch on the rear of the home. The master bath features a large corner shower, a freestanding tub and a double vanity while the master closet opens up into the laundry room.

On the second floor you will find bedrooms 2 and 3. At the head of the stairs you find yourself in a large space that makes up a TV loft. This is perfect to allow the little ones to have their own space to watch their shows, so you don’t have to watch the latest kid movie until you know the dialog by heart. (I’m looking at you, Elsa.) This space features 3 windows that look out over the left side of the home.

Bedroom 2 has two windows that look out over the right side of the home while Bedroom 3 gives you two windows that look over the front of the home. Both bedrooms have small walk in closets and share the hall bathroom that features a double vanity that is separated from the main bathing area.

This rustic beauty gives you just over 2,500 square feet of living space with 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths and 1 half bath. This home has some of the best curb appeal as you can see from the lovely pictures that one of our clients kindly sent us. This home has great rustic charm with a stone exterior with exposed timbers and board and batten shingle accents. The inside of the home is stunning as well with a large formal dining room, an absolutely enormous master suite and a huge covered outdoor living area. This plan is made for those with discerning tastes.

The first thing that you notice about this home is the gorgeous stone exterior. This combined with the exposed timbers and board and batten siding is just stunning. These details, which are so typical of a Michael E. Nelson plan, make sure that your house is the first one that is noticed on the block.

Entering the home from the covered porch, you walk through the double entry doors into the foyer. The foyer gives you high ceilings and makes sure that you realize that you are stepping into a stately home. On the left side of the foyer is the formal dining room.

The formal dining room gives you those same high ceilings from the foyer and a large picture window that faces the front of the home. The dining room is connected to the kitchen through a convenient butler’s pantry. This gives you a great way to stage courses and beverages during a dinner party or serve appetizers.

From the foyer you can make your way into the large space that is part of the open floor plan. This open floor plan is made up of the great room, the kitchen and the breakfast room. The great room is dominated by a large brickwork gas fireplace on the right wall of the space. The rear wall of the great room is a sliding glass door that opens onto the covered outdoor living area.

The outdoor living area features a vaulted ceiling with exposed timber beams. It also has a large masonry fireplace on one of the walls so that even on the chilliest of evenings, you can be all warm and snuggly.

The kitchen is separated from the great room by a large island. This island gives you bar seating for 6 and provides a perfect place for cleaning up after a large meal. The island features a space for a sink and a dishwasher and faces the great room so you can keep an eye on things while you are cleaning up. The rest of the kitchen gives you loads of counterspace with room for a double oven, oversized range and both a refrigerator and freezer.

Further down this hall you will find the large laundry room. Not only does this laundry room have space for both the washer and dryer with hanging storage over them, but it also has a soaking sink!

The master suite is down this way just past the kitchen. The master bedroom gives you high ceilings and a triple window facing the rear of the home. The master bath is enormous. It features a double vanity, a freestanding tub and a large glass shower in the corner. I love corner showers. They are so nice. The master closet is nothing to sneeze at either. It features plenty of storage space for even the most ardent of shoppers.

On the other side of the home, you will find bedrooms 2, 3 and 4. Bedroom 2 has a window that looks out the front of the home under the covered porch. It also features its own walk in closet! Bedroom 3 has a large window that faces the side of the home and its own walk-in closet with window. Bedroom 4 gives you a window that faces the rear of the home and a walk-in closet as well. All the bedrooms share the hall bathroom.
