As you are searching for your perfect house plan you may have come across the question of whether to have a vaulted ceiling or not. You love the look but aren’t sure about the extra cost that is associated with it. Or you may not even know of the extra costs, even after building, that come along with that a vaulted ceiling. Let’s look at some pros and cons to a vaulted ceiling which just may help you make your decision. PRO: A vaulted ceiling will add elegance and grandeur to any room. A vaulted ceiling draws the eye up and can even be complimented by exposed beams to add a great finishing touch. CON: A vaulted ceiling will cost more to build and more in electricity. You will have to be heating and cooling a lot more air in your home with this extra space. PRO: Adds the look of more space to your home. Not only does this ceiling add grandeur it also adds the appearance of much more space in the room making it feel less closed in. CON: Cleaning can be a nightmare. Trying to get to those cobwebs that are trying to start developing in the corner? You may need to get a ladder into your home to accomplish this. These pros and cons are just a few things to consider when picking out your next house plan. If you love the look of a vaulted ceiling and don’t mind the little bit of extra money you may have to put aside for your utilities bill then go for it! But if you are looking to save money then maybe try a 10’ ceiling to add space and height instead. It is all up to what you think will work best for you.
